Booyah

Hey folks, just thought I'd drop by and give y'all a friendly hi and hug.

I just finished working for a few hours on an America's Army review for insidemacgames. I absolutely love that game, and when my editor found out, he asked if I can do a review on it. So low and behold, two days later I have it done. I don't know what's come over me, I absolutely love doing reviews now. They are so easy to write, and so much damn fun. Now, ever since i started a better way of taking notes on games for the more professional ones, its even more easier for me to write it. I spend more time proofreading the damn things now. *sigh* Good times.

Other than that, the usual boring stuff here, watched the Democratic Convention most of the week, did a little bit of gaming and a lot of writing. I also have another review currently at the Intermission section fo the stanfor daily, if you want to check that one out too. Good stuff.

Well, way too much typing today has left me rather tired, so I'm off for now! See yas!

Yeeeaaaahh

So another weekend has come and gone uneventually, Big whup, these days. I was talking with Shammy and we've decided to already count down the days until we go back to school. So, for me at least, its 50 days exactly before I return to the Farm and begin that RCC training.

Turned in another game review that'll be published in the Weekly on Thursday. Its not much of an article, but its fun at least to see my articles get published somewhere, even if I don't get paid. Hopefully, I can convince my IMG boss to get me another game so I can write another review for them. Just more of the stuff that I love to do.

In other news, my wrist and arm has been hurting a lot lately. It's not sore, or any thing like that, it just fucking hurts, and I'm not sure why. People I've talked to suggest that it might be bursitis or something similar; just another ailment that's all pain and no danger, sheesh.

Oh, and Happy Birthday buddy! Hope things are good with ya :)

Feh

I know its not fair to just say that I'm bored as hell and leave it at that. It's much more complicated than just being plagued with simple boredom.

Truth be told, I shouldn't really be bored, I have lots of books, several projects, and tons of games and movies and such I could interact with, thus killing lots of time. But I don't *want* to kill time, I'd rather be out hanging with friends going to dance clubs and the like.

Therein lies the problem. None of my dear college buddies are around, so I can't really chill and have lots of fun that way. Also, none of my good online buddies are within 4 hours of driving, so I can't even have fun that way. It's just such an odd predicament that finds myself counting down the days until school starts.

I can't even bother finding a job right now since most places have such a damn long hiring process I'd be at school by the time they rendered a decision. There is no such thing as summer hiring here, bleh.

We aren't even moving into our new house until October, so I'll be coming down then in the midst of a 20 unit quarter and such. (I *want* to come down, but I know it'll be hard regardless).

Well, in better news, another one of my reviews is up at the Daily's web site, and I just turned in a pretty lengthy review of Black Hawk Down for Inside Mac Games. Move on to the next hit title now!

Tired

I got a copy of Black Hawk Down sent to me from Aspyr so I can review it for Inside Mac Games. So far, it looks to be a decent game with standard graphics and sound. Nothing too spectacular so far; hopefully the multiplayer or later levels make up for and it turns out to be a little more than the standard war FPS games that I've been playing forever.

Other than that, things have been pretty tiring and a little boring. Got a gaming review in the Daily (forgot if I mentioned that), and I've been pretty bored out of my mind. There isn't much to do here back home, and I'm starting to just get school sick simply because I miss all my great buddies. Hey Henwy, Shammy, if y'all still read this!

Just the same... nothing but waiting for nothing; nothing.

Hell Hath Frozen Over

Shaq traded to the Miami Heat.

All I have to say is:

What the fuck?

Sure, we've all know this was going to happen (speaking of that, how the how could we anticipate such a stupid thing would happen from far away and not do any thing about it?), but it's still a shock to see it. I've watched the Lakers for more than five years now, and I still don't know what say about it. Geeze, this was the best team to form since... ever. And people are leaving and others are acting like assholes for what? So every one can get a chance to play solo and act like idiots? These people make more money in a year than 75% of us will eveer make in our lifetime, and THEY'RE complaining about money? THEY'RE complaining about being disrespected? About not having their way? Fuck, give me a 150 million dollars for five years and I'll PLAY BASKETBALL whereveer the hell you want, I'll even wash your car for you, too.

This is too ridiculous, and this is how all professional sports are ending up as. I swear, I'm going to make my opinions heard if I ever become a sports broadcaster, then maybe I'll be able to get to the bottom of why some athletes choose to act like fucking idiots and get away with it.

Depressing as hell.

Working it on...

So, I started work on ze book yesterday and worked on it a little bit today. I'm going to try and see if I can squeeze out a legitimite outline of what I want to discuss in it. Laying out chapters, main topics, e.t.c. I also started work on the introductory chapter; nothing really new or exciting with that. I just figured I'd put in the standard explanation chapter first, telling what I'm about and what this book will accomplish among other things. I'm starting to feel pretty good about this if I can get it rolling.

In other news, I'm being sent Black Hawk Down from IMG for play and review. I really love working for these guys, they send me games once in awhile (lately they've been the really cool new ones), and I play the hell out of them and write a decent review. Any thing to get me more experience.

Speaking of that, I also wrote a video game review for the Stanford Weekly (The Daily's summer weekly newspaper thing). They needed some extra stories so of course I quickly whipped up a review of Mega Man Anniversary Edition, which is a really kickass compilation of classic Mega Man titles. Hopefully they use it.

Good times right now... good stuff.

Here's a thought...

Check this out: I came up with this thought last night, and I think I can actually pull it off. A self help 'companion' guide for high schoolers... giving tips... tricks... and well, simple advice on how to get through high school and get ready for college! I totally think I can pull it off:

First off, there really aren't that many books written in this vein for high schoolers to begin with

Second... for the few that are out there, I don't think there are any that are actually written by 'youngish' folks; its always some old shrink on tenure at Harvard...

Third... I really think that I can combine the resources some of my friends with my experiences to just make a realistic book that could work...

I think I'm going to do some serious thinking on this, and start working on it. If it pans out... fucking great. If not, it was still a nice idea.

*smiles*

I like this one...

Wackiness: 46/100
Rationality: 40/100
Constructiveness: 76/100
Leadership: 50/100

You are an SECF--Sober Emotional Constructive Follower. This makes you a hippie. You are passionate about your causes and steadfast in your commitments. Once you've made up your mind, no one can convince you otherwise. Your politics are left-leaning, and your lifestyle choices decidedly temperate and chaste.

You do tremendous work when focused, but usually you operate somewhat distracted. You blow hot and cold, and while you normally endeavor on the side of goodness and truth, you have a massive mean streak which is not to be taken lightly. You don't get mad, you get even.

Please don't get even with this web site.

It works, it really does ;)

Change

So it's finally happened folks. After MT screwed up my entire database of entries and wouldn't allow me to go back and edit them without having to start a *brand new* blog, I said farewell to them and decided to come back to the site that started it all for me: Blogger. Yes, ericrants.com will still be here, and every thing will still be publised on my site, but I'm sick and tired of having to go through the trouble of comment banning from bots and having incidents like this last one from happening. Things'll be a lot simpler, but hopefully better, as well.

Don't fret, though, I did archive all my past entries before I left. If you ever become nostalgic of classic ericrants, you can go here to access all 500+ entries from my blog. Enjoy that! :D

As for me, this is how it's going to be for now. I hope the layout isn't too bad for y'all. If you know of a better one; let me know.

See y'all for now.
