Uproot
I'm leaving in less than a week for DC.
I know for most of the folks here, such an action isn't a big deal. Y'all have gone across the US and country tons of times, but for me this just hasn't been the case. Stanford was a perfect school for me in many ways, including location. The only time I've gone across the US has been for vacation and visiting special people.
I just realized that I'm really going to be far from home, and I'm not sure what to think about it.

And as a consolation (or maybe it's detrimental...) I'll only be half the distance from home!

you'll be OK. theresa, govi, stella, and hopefully collin and brian will join you on the cold coast. And of course, LAURA! --> good times lie ahead, I promise. Well... that may be a lie. I am sure that some times *will* suck, just because of the whole "comfort zone" abandonment and all, but remember, these are pains of growth. And they can be washed away with booze.
