Games

Several games I picked up recently that are pretty good: Street Fighter: Anniversary Collection for the PS2 and Pokemon: LeafGreen for the GBA. SF:AC is a pretty decent collection of two games, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, and Hyper Street Fighter II. Third Strike is a decent port of an arcade of the same name, and it offers a lot of the old school tactical game play with some pretty neat additions (parry, tech hits, e.t.c.) but with all the graphic and musical flair of a newer Capcom game. My only gripe is that a lot of the characters are pretty fucking weird, but eh, whatever. It's also a pretty damn good multiplayer game to share with friends. Hyper Street Fighter II is a jumbled up mix of a lot of characters from classic Street Fighter games. You can play five different versions of your old favories (such as original, champion edition, turbo e.t.c.). The graphics and music are definitely old school and might turn off some people, but for me at least, it offered a bit of good fun multiplayer wise. Single player mode, however, is very hard, so don't bother unless you remember how hard these games were.

I just bought LeafGreen right now, but so far its looking pretty interesting. It's an updated version of the original Pokemon game that came out a long time ago. I remember putting a lot of time into it with a friend of mine and then kicking each other's ass once we had become pretty good in it. I'm hoping for that nostalgia feeling with this title, same as SF:AC.

And that's what it comes down to. I can't believe these games that I used to love and play are 10, 15 years old. Makes me wonder how far along I've come, and just how much of a gamer I've been since I was a little kid. It also makes me reflect on the friends that I've known that long.

Christian, not sure if you read this or not, but I'm gonna miss you a lot this school year. I hope you get that EB job in Ventura. I know you can do it.

And I'm out; five more days until I return to The Farm.
