First Days

So first day of my Junior year of Stanford education has come and gone. And much to my pleasure, it was short, sweet, and leaving me thirsty for more (at least for one of the two classes that I took today)

Poetry and Poetics is being taught by my advisor and friend Kenneth Fields, a totally cool poet who's been bringing his dogs to class for the last 20 + years. He brought Dixie along today (she was also at the seminar that I took with him when I was a frosh. He also brought a 9 week old puppy today named Dot, who proceeded to pee several times in the classroom. He's trying to train her to be the new class dog; it would seem that DIxie is finally getting on with age (she looked fine to me, but I can see that her age is showing). It will be interesting to see if Dot progresses during this quarter.

Class wise, P&P looks like its going to be a blast, with lots of emphasis on poetic form and the various authors that emphasize each one. We have a few papers to do for the quarter and no final, yay!

My Fiction writing class looks like its going to be what I thought it was: a workshop course that's going to leave me scared shitless when I finally have to present something decent to the other 17 students to critique the hell out of. *sigh* At least the prof seems cool enough and it shouldn't be too bad overall.

And that is my schedule for Mondays. Tomorrow is more P&P and Perspectives on American Journalism.

  • Just don't volunteer yourself to go first in fiction.

Oh, and don't have cop-out endings, i.e. killing characters, driving into the sunset, etc. etc.

    Ick! Form! I'm melting! :d

  • Woo first day!

I wouldn't worry about your Fiction Writing class, as I'm sure you'll nock the socks off everyone there.
